In the nicest way...

Weddings are beautiful, emotional, and also stressful days for couples. You go to marry your best friend and realize that you won't see them for a while during the day and all you want to do is talk to them. You've got a checklist of a million tiny things that need done! The day is long, exciting, and stressful. You're going to be exhausted, worried, excited, emotional, get an adrenaline rush, go party, and probably be exhausted when you get to bed. When you're preparing for your wedding, I want you to keep all of these things in mind.

'Is she really asking me to keep MORE in mind?' Yes, I am. These are normal feelings to have on your wedding day! remember that and try to relax when you're going through them. Focus on your loveeee and why you're really there!

I capture a wedding day mostly documentary, so I capture moments that happen naturally. Which means, you have to be authentic. Be yourself and interact with your partner and guests while staying present in the moment. If you focus on me too much, you won't get those documentary style images, and you'll spend most of the day worried about the photos.

I'm not a complete fly on the wall when I work at weddings. occasionally if I was changing some settings and missed a small detail, I might ask you to do it one more time. The bride above, had a sweet, but very brief moment when her mom kissed her on the head while they were getting ready. The second my settings were good to go, it was over. I asked them to do it one more time, and I got the shot beautifully. So, I will speak up a bit during the documentary part of your day, but not much.  During the planned editorial parts of the day, I'll guide you a lot more!

Rest assured, I am always fully prepared to capture the big moments, so I won't be interrupting anything like that!

I am also a fix it girl, so if there's an issue with anything and I know the solution, I will always step in and offer a hand!

It's okay to stick to your budget! The fairytale weddings you see on Pinterest cost a pretty mansion. Don't compare your day to theirs. I will make your wedding day look beautiful but I can't make it look like something its not.

Vendors and venues are pricey but there's someone and something for every budget.  I've met brides who prioritized their photos on their wedding day, I've also met brides who prioritized the DJ's or caterers. It's your day! Have a list of the top few priorities and the bottom ones and work from there. I will say, photos and your spouse are the only things you'll have at the end, so not to sound pick-me but.. pick me!

And... a few quick-fire things... If you like it, do it. It doesn't matter how many others are doing the same thing. Stay close to your partner at your wedding and reception and those will get you two the best photos! Don't sleep on making your VIP list! We will wish we had it if we don't. Choose your vendors based on how comfortable they make you feel, some personalities just don't "vibe" and that's okay. Some light family drama is common on wedding days, and some families are harder than others, continue to focus on your romance and don't let it ruin one of the biggest days of your life.

The message I'm trying to send: your wedding day is about your love! Let that be your main focus!
